Music is tightly interwoven into the South Beach culture. Yet the diversity of the music is incredible. Latin American music is of course very popular, including some truly great flamenco guitarists playing every evening in front of the Breakwater Hotel on Ocean Drive. In addition, a stroll down Ocean Drive or Lincoln Rd. will almost certainly provide you with excellent music in the form of solo artists playing saxophone, clarinet, keyboards, as well as various small bands specializing in high energy Latin American-oriented music.
Disk Jockeys also play a huge role in the South Beach music scene, and some are as well known (locally anyway) as major movie stars. Each club promotes its regular and guest DJs as much as it promotes itself...in fact in some cases clubs and their DJs are inseparable in terms of their culture and clientele.
But the subject here is bands, and the very best are listed here.
Ceasar's Jade | A "must see" band; truly great music and vocals along with high energy professional showmanship (or in this case, showwomanship); they sometimes play at Jazid and the Clevelander
High Voltage | Fabulous R&B; sometimes play at various South Beach settings including the Clevelander and Jazid | Click here for more information
Pangea | Excellent band playing a wide variety of music including rock, Latin rock, R&B, Carribean, and even a couple of disco numbers | Click here for more information
